I don't mean big soft mushy calves... I mean "I've been skating for 20 years and I am a genetic mutant giant muscle calves." My calves are 19" around. The only boots that ever fit me... actually (i.e. that could stretch over my calves,) are made by a company called Aigle from France. When I tried to recently replace a pair I had since college that were stolen, I was sickened to see that they run ~$450.00!!!! So, not being wealthy... I started to look for a replacement. After three pairs of very popular models, as usual, I was completely disappointed. These boots are AWESOME. They are constructed of a very tough but short boot section topped with a wide and stretchy neoprene wader section with a ruggedized but still soft knee section. No internal harness.... and constructed so well that they stand on your leg alone without having to use the straps... just like the Aigles.
